Who we are

Indivisible Southwest Wisconsin formed in February 2025 as a part of the national Indivisible movement. We seek to build an inclusive democracy through peaceful, nonviolent action in our community. We support progressive causes, collaborate with grassroots organizations, and work to impact policies and lives, especially for those most vulnerable. We cover a 5 county radius including Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Richland and Crawford county in Wisconsin.

Our Focus

Democratic Purpose: Organize, support, and attend non-violent efforts in SW Wisconsin that promote the preservation of peaceful democratic values, institutions, and principles.

Positive Engagement: Regularly contact our legislators on policy decisions, legislation and issues that face our community. Support those most vulnerable through mutual aid and community building.

Education: Help our members become more informed and responsible citizens. Disseminate information about candidates and their platforms, voter registration process, and legislation. Better understand the constitution and our rights in a democracy.

Absolutely. Please let our Leadership Team know you have an interest in organizing a chapter, and we will create a plan with you. Send us an email or contact us via this site. See Contact page.

How can I get involved in the group right away ?

Tell us your area of interest and we will try to connect you with others who share your concerns. We always need people to write post cards to elected representatives and Letters to the Editor. Calling your legislators on pending bills, congressional issues, or on topics you are passionate about is continuously needed. We recommend using 5Calls.org, a link on this site. Organizing takes all of our capabilities from artwork, computers communication, security and legal and everything in-between. There is always something we need to get done.

Why did this group decide to become part of the national Indivisible organization?

The Co-Founders of Indivisible, Ezra Klein and Leah Greenburg and their team wrote the Indivisible Guide in 2016 and updated in 2024 immediately after the November election. It is a handbook of lots of information and toolkits for local groups to use to help them get started and shape their groups. They provide ongoing training, weekly calls, leadership advice, and strategies for taking actions. They are committed to their members and provide excellent experience and guidance for us. See Indivisible.org.

What is the main purpose of ISW?

We are a grassroots organization coming together to stand up for the US Constitution and our democracy. We believe that a healthy democracy requires an engaged public. We believe we must defend our constitution by helping citizens organize, learn about the issues that face us and put pressure on our elected officials to act on our behalf. We join the majority of citizens who do not want an authoritarian government and nor to be led by oligarchs.

Is Indivisible part of the Democratic party?

No, we support the Democratic party in most initiatives, but our purpose is to push a bolder and more progressive agenda with new actions and strategies. We will support the eventual Democratic nominee in the general election to defeat right wing forces and “take our country back”.
